mkdraft — a tool for first drafts № 001 · beta field edition · set in instrument serif & newsreader

For people who write for a living, or a life

The blank page is optional.

Type one line about what you're writing. mkdraft returns a working first draft — outline, prose, structure — about twenty seconds later. You keep the only job worth having: making it good.

Free during beta · no card · no funnel · no “book a demo”

PROMPT ▸friendly launch email for the mkdraft beta — under 60 words

§ 1 — the method

Three moves, no staring

  1. Give it the one-liner

The messy version is fine — “launch email, friendly, short” is a perfect prompt. mkdraft asks at most three questions, then stops asking and starts writing.

  2. Get a draft, not a blob

Outline first, then prose — with every guess marked in the margin. Guesses are cheap to correct and safe to trust, because you can always see them.

  3. Revise like an editor

Accept, strike, redirect. Every revision is kept, so you can always roll back to draft №1 — the honest one — and take a different turn.

§ 2 — the catalogue

What it drafts

* This page started life as a mkdraft draft. Only the jokes were revised by hand.

Field notes · № 3

“A good draft is the cheapest way to find out what you actually think.”
— the mkdraft field notes, page one
§ 3 — for terminal people

Plain markdown, in and out

Drafts live in your folder, not our platform.

Everything mkdraft writes is plain markdown you can diff, grep, and git. Export the whole archive any time — no lock-in, not even a login.
